A winter training camp in computers for children below the age of 15 was organised for the first time by the Department of Computer Science, Vocational Training Centre, Jalapahar. The children were taught the basics of computers including word processing, photo editing, digital art among other things. The intention behind the camp was to introduce computers at the same time given them a basic knowledge about the same so that they could in the later years, gain a deeper understanding of Information Technology.
A large number of applicants applied for the course. 12 students were selected. All the students who complete the camp will be given a Certificate in Basic Computing. Mr. Barun Roy, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science said that in the future as the infrastructure expands, more students from both outside and inside the cantonment area will be entertained. “Vocational Training Centre, Jalapahar is trying her best to give the best in terms of training and curriculum in various vocational fields,” he added.
