Vocational Training Centre (VTC) Jalapahar, was inaugurated on the 8th of November 2011 by Brigadier R. S. Rawat in the presence of Mr. Neeraj Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Jalapahar Cantonment Board and Mr. Shyam Rai, Vice President.
VTC was established under Section 64 (I), (V) of Cantonment Act, 2006 and is administered by Jalapahar Cantonment Board, which is an Autonomous Body under Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
All the courses conducted by VTC are Free and include courses such as Computer Science, Communicative English, Beauty and Hair Styling among others. Civilians and Military populace within and outside the Cantonment Area are welcome to join the courses. Free text books, and study materials are also provided to the students.
Students are also offered free access to the Cantonment Gymnasium. Free medical care along with free medicines are provided by the Cantonment Dispensary.
Presently the courses are modeled according to National Council of Vocational Training and Research (New Delhi).
Besides the regular Diploma level courses, special winter camps are also conducted where Certificate level courses are offered to students who will otherwise remain idle during their two and a half month holidays. First winter camp was successfully organised in 2016-2017.
